That Works signs up a duo of Dragons Den contestants

We’re proud to announce we’ve started working with 2 additional Dragons Den contestants, Upcirlce and PÄRLA. This comes after That Works was appointed as the Shopify agency for Homethings, a previous smash-hit on the show earlier in the year.

UpCircle

UpCircle (previously OPTIAT) is an eco-friendly, ethical beauty and cosmetics company making products from the recycled ground coffee waste they collect from coffee shops around the UK.

They appeared on the hit TV show Dragons Den in 2018 where they received offers from 3 Dragons in the den. Since then they’ve been growing from strength to strength, receiving listings in high street retailers such as Sainsbury's and Holland & Barrett in the UK, along with Wholefoods and other online retailers in the United States.

We’re proud to of partnered with UpCircle to remove some of their pain points around development, starting with some new online experiences to make their customers buying journeys frictionless, more on that coming soon! 👀

You can watch their pitch below which has now over 1.6 million views at the time of writing:

PÄRLA

Also appearing on the Den is PÄRLA, a revolutionary toothpaste tabs company that is making waves in the industry, picking up huge traction both online and in-store.

It’s estimated by 2050 that there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean, with toothpaste tubes contributing to this sobering fact considerably. It takes between 500-700 years for toothpaste tubes to biodegrade, meaning the majority of tubes created are still existing somewhere, over 1.5 billion of them to be precise.

PÄRLA fixes this issue, by doing away with the tubes, swapping them for recyclable packaging, and offering a re-fill system all while creating a product that does more than your standard toothpaste. When using PÄRLA chewable toothpaste tabs, your gums absorb extra included E & B Vitamins to boost immunity all while leaving teeth with a high gloss teeth whitening finish.

When appearing on the show they received investment offers for their full asking amount from Deborah Meaden and Tej Lalvani, however, a deal wasn’t struck up in the end as the Dragons wanted more equity for their money than the founders were offering.

We’re super pumped for these guys to be joining us, and we’re excited to help them grow their D2C through Shopify throughout 2022 and beyond!
